I have a passion to help others connect more deeply with themselves and others from a genuine place. Part of the work in therapy is to shed our unconscious in-authenticity and to become more of our real selves. When we can be more of who we really are we learn to drop the depression, anxiety and other self-negating behaviors that are causing us so much suffering. We live in a very fast paced world where we are increasingly becoming disconnected from ourselves and our humanity. I have a strong desire to help people reconnect with their truth, their real feelings and their higher selves.
Move to a Place of Empowerment
I help my clients from a place of dis-empowerment to empowerment by helping them get really clear about how they feel about things and their life choices. Most people often know what they think about things but they don’t always know how they feel about things. One of the ways I do this is to get them out of their head and bring them back to their body. Many people had their feelings taken away from them in childhood. This is because, their feelings were not tolerated by their caregivers. People learn to dis-associate from how they really feel.
You can’t will yourself out of sadness…
Many people try to will themselves out of their sadness, anger and anxiety and it just doesn’t work. They only end up repressing their feelings and what they resist persists. Which causes most people to feel worse.
Another technique I use with people to help empower them is to help people dis-identify with their victim. What I mean by this is I help them identify where they are creating a negative story in their life and living their life as a victim from that story. That story is based in the past, it’s not where they have to live now. They have a choice to change this. Often this story or belief system is part of their unconscious, so we work to bring it to consciousness.
